We take great pride in our deep roots in Greystones, where Hillside Cottage once served as our ancestors' home, sadly now gone. . While it may not have met today’s energy efficiency standards, it remains an environmentally friendly dwelling, built with locally sourced materials. Its thick stone walls provided exceptional thermal mass, absorbing and storing heat to keep the home warm on cold winter nights. The natural thatched roof offered excellent insulation, while the small windows helped optimize heat retention—all designed to make the most of the resources available at the time. This philosophy continues to inspire us today, as we champion the use of natural materials to create healthier, more sustainable energy efficient homes free from unnecessary chemicals.

 

Our journey into energy-efficient and high-performance building began in 2002, driven by a passion for sustainable design and innovation.

As pioneers in the low-energy and passive house movement, we worked alongside leaders in the field , and assisted in  not only educating the local construction industry but actually bringing one of Ireland’s first certified Passive Houses to life, Build by German Eco Homes  this house helped set the standards and trend that the construction industry is striving to achieve, this was followed several more groundbreaking projects.

 

This hands-on experience, combined with our role as certified designers of low-energy, engineered timber structures, has given us an in-depth understanding of what makes homes truly energy-efficient and healthy to live in.

With a B.Sc. and years of expertise in manufacturing and product design, and a proven track record in sustainable construction, we have the necessary skills and knowledge to assess buildings and enhance their performance.

We also established one of Ireland’s first companies  Isocell Ltd to offer a full range of professional air, wind, and water-tight solutions, setting a new standard for airtightness and cellulose insulation.
